  •  St. Herman of Alaska Founders Day Picnic, August 9th, 2006



  • Joy through Music, Inc.,  provided a 2 hour concert at Fairview Park, West 38th & Franklin, Cleveland, Ohio, for
St. Herman of Alaska Founders Day picnic.    Music was provided by local area musicians, Dan Hulse, Pastor Jim Jasper,
Greg J
., Reggie Tuck and Deb Davidson.  The attendees really enjoyed the blues and rock genre!!                  
The people  who attended the picnic were residents of
St. Herman's as well as members
of the surrounding community.  A picnic dinner was provided by
St. Herman's.  A good time was had by all!!!

  • Homeless  Stand Down, February 20th, 2006

    Joy through Music, Inc.,  performed at the HSD’06 which took place at Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio.    The
    performance lasted for 1 ½ hour.  Musicians performing were Moises Borges, guitar and vocals and Kenny Davis, flugle
    horn and trumpet, and Deb Davidson, vocals and percussion.  The music of Brazil which included Samba and Bossa Nova
    was enjoyed by those attending the sit down meal in the Cathedral Hall.  Joy through Music received a volunteer award,
    which was presented by Kate Lassiter from Cleveland State University, one of the organizers for the yearly Stand Down.

    The audience enjoyed all of the selections of music that were performed by the group.  There was much interest shown
    regarding the horns that Kenny Davis used during his performance.  There was also dialogue about the music and its
    African origins.  Many of the crowd that was dispersed throughout the room came up to the front to be seated at tables
    near the stage to listen and watch the performance. There was some audience participation involving a young man
    dancing on the stage and others playing percussion.



  • Joy through Music also  performed at the Homeless Stand Down in 2004 & 2005.  Musicians in attendance were Skip
    Edwards, Leo Ryan, John Tula, Reggie Tuck, Brian Bate, Pastor Jim Jasper and Deb Davidson.

  • Joy through Music has also provided free live concerts at Fairview Park which is located in Cleveland's Ohio City area, the
    summer month's of '03, '04', 05, '06, & '07 as well as at St. Herman's community meals.  The different  musicians who
    have participated in these events are Dewey Jeffries, Marty Barker, Terry Greene, LR Smith, Skip Edwards, Pastor Jim
    Jasper and Reggie Tuck,  Greg G,  Dan Hulse, ralph Jackson, Moises Borges, Mat Horwich.

         
    Past Events

  • On February 9, 2003 at 2:00 pm, Joy through Music, Inc., presented a free live musical performance for the Homeless
    Stand Down at the Commons of Trinity Cathedral, 2230 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. The performers were Deborah
    Davidson (vocals), Moises Borges de Fretas (guitar), Matt Perko (drums), and Mal Berron (saxophone/flute).


  • On September 2nd, 2002, at 12 noon, Joy through Music, Inc., presented another free live musical performance at Saint
    Herman's Hospitality House. The performers were Kenny Allen (vocals), Deborah Davidson (vocals), Skip Edwards, (bass
    guitar), Larry Glover (drums), Jim Jasper (flute, harmonica), and L.R. Smith (piano).


  • On June 30th, 2002 at 7:00 pm, Joy through Music, Inc., presented a free live music performance at Saint Herman's
    Hospitality House located at 4410 Franklin Blvd., Cleveland, Ohio, 44113. The musicians and vocalist was Deborah
    Davidson (vocalist), Skip Edwards (bass guitar), Larry Glover (drums), Jim Jasper (piano, harmonica, vocals), Gil
    Yachson (guitar), Kenny Allen & Georgia Shilander (vocals) and Reggie Tuck (saxophone).

  • September 24th, 2006, Joy through Music performed at a Homeless Fest, which was coordinated
    by St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, E. 49th & Cedar, Cleveland, Ohio. The band played  some
    wonderful down home blues and were well received by all!  Those in attendance were members of
    the parish as well as some of  Cleveland's homeless population and  those living in local shelters.
